Student Success Story: Jared from MagiKats Alloa
Jared joined MagiKats Alloa English Tuition at age 10 in 2022 as his parents had heard about the benefits of attending from others in the area. The aim was to give Jared more confidence around writing and to have specialist small group teaching in a relaxed environment to aid his development at school.
Jared enjoys playing with friends, Tae Kwon Do, and gaming, and hopes to get involved with gaming design in the future.
He’s found renewed confidence and a genuine enjoyment of writing stories and creating characters as mum Jackie explains:
“Jared is 100% more confident to get writing and it has also massively reduced a barrier he faced in just giving it a go. He has a great imagination but his lack of confidence around spelling restricted what he was able to produce, especially during literacy lessons at school.
It is a great, friendly and inclusive service. I feel reassured and confident that Jared attends and is happy and safe.”
How does Jared find the workshops?
Mum Jackie says that he enjoys going along to the sessions and is proud of what he is achieving. She feels that it is due to him having success in completing tasks and activities. He finds the workshops fun and friendly and receives lots of verbal praise, encouragement and support both during the sessions and at home.
We asked Jackie what advice she would offer to another parent considering MagiKats. She said, “If you have any concerns with your child’s learning in school or if you feel they need a little more time and support, go along and meet with Carol and ask lots of questions.”
